PHILADELPHIA — Donald Trump’s suggestion that the Russians should help the U.S. find Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized private State Department emails comes awfully close to treason, according to CNN political analyst Christine Quinn.
The GOP nominee told reporters in a lengthy press conference Wednesday morning, “[The Russians] probably have her 33,000 emails that she lost and deleted. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”
His remarks, which were made in reference to thousands of State Department emails Clinton and her team deleted from her private servers instead of turning them over for archiving, did not go over well with Quinn.
“It’s honestly almost treasonous!” she exclaimed.
CNN contributor Andre Bauer, however, felt it was necessary to remind his co-commentator and CNN’s audience that Clinton still needs to answer for her deleted emails.
“It’s treasonous to have 30,000 emails disappear! It’s treasonous to the American public!” he said.
He defended Trump’s apparent call for the Russians to hack Clinton as a sign he “wants to be friendly with everybody.”
