President Donald Trump has moved early to shape the GOP field as Republicans head into the 2026 elections, issuing over 200 endorsements across the U.S. Senate, House, and state legislative races.

Republicans hold a narrow majority in the House, and the party risks losing control of the chamber if Democrats net just a handful of seats.

Trump’s endorsements are largely aimed at protecting incumbents and clearing primary fields while also backing Republicans running in Democrat-held districts and states.

Alabama

Trump has endorsed Rep. Barry Moore for Alabama’s open Senate seat left by Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who is running for governor and also received the president’s endorsement in that venture. Moore won in the GOP primary runoff against former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson.

Tuberville won the Republican nomination in the primary.

Trump has endorsed Reps. Mike Rogers, Robert Aderholt, and Dale Strong, who all won in their primary elections. The president also endorsed State Rep. Rhett Marques and former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl, and Gary Palmer, who are running in special congressional primaries scheduled for August after the state’s congressional map was redrawn. Trump’s picks in the special elections all won their special primary elections.

At the state level, vice chairman of the Republican National Committee John Wahl has secured Trump’s endorsement for lieutenant governor. Wahl did not secure the majority of the vote but advanced to a runoff election, which he ultimately won.

Alaska

Trump has endorsed Sen. Dan Sullivan for reelection, and he advanced to the general election.

Trump has endorsed Rep. Nick Begich, who won the most votes in the primary election.

Arizona

Arizona will not hold a Senate race during this election cycle.

Trump has endorsed Reps. Eli Crain, Juan Ciscomani, Jay Feely, Abraham Hamadeh, and Paul Gosar. He has also endorsed Mark Lamb. All of the House candidates endorsed by the president won their respective primaries.

In the Arizona gubernatorial race, Trump threw his support behind Rep. Andy Biggs, calling him “outstanding.”  Biggs ultimately won the nomination in the primary election.

The president also backed Alexander Kolodin, who also won the nomination.

Arkansas

Trump has endorsed Sen. Tom Cotton for reelection. Cotton won the Republican primary election March 3 and will be heading to the general election in November.

Trump has endorsed Reps. Rick Crawford, French Hill, Steve Womack, and Bruce Westerman. All three representatives whom the president endorsed in Arkansas won their primaries on March 3.

For Arkansas governor, Trump has endorsed Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders for reelection. Sanders has already won the primary elections and will take on two Democratic challengers in November.

California

California will not hold a Senate race during this election cycle.

Trump has endorsed challenger Kevin Lincoln II and California GOP assemblyman James Gallagher, as well as Reps. Vince Fong, Jay Obernolte, Tom McClintock, Jim Desmond to represent California in the House. Gallagher and all of the incumbents won in their primaries.

The president also backed Steve Hilton in the state’s primary for California’s next governor. Hilton will be heading to a general election where he will face Democrats Xavier Becerra and Tom Steyer.

Trump also endorsed Spencer Pratt for mayor of Los Angeles, but the former reality TV star ultimately failed to secure enough votes to make it to a general election runoff against Bass.

California uses a jungle primary system, in which all candidates appear on the same ballot and the two highest vote-getters advance to the general election regardless of party.

Colorado

While Trump has not endorsed a candidate in the Colorado Senate race, several Republican candidates are running. State representative Mark Baisley is among the Republicans seeking the seat, but he has not received an endorsement from the president.

Trump has endorsed Reps. Lauren Boebert, Jeff Crank, and Gabe Evans.

Trump at one point rescinded his endorsement of Hurd. The president cited Hurd’s lack of support on foreign tariffs as reason for no longer backing Hurd. Trump at one point rescinded his endorsement of him. Just before the primary election, Trump re-endorsed Hurd.

Connecticut

Connecticut will hold races for its five House seats, governor, state House, Senate, and several other state legislative offices.

The state has voted primarily for Democrats since 2006. Trump has not issued any endorsements for candidates running in Connecticut.

The president previously endorsed Rep. Neal Dunn to represent Florida’s 2nd Congressional District, but he has since dropped out of the race to retire due to a terminal diagnosis. Trump had also backed Rep. Vern Buchanan, who is retiring after 20 years in office.

To replace Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is not seeking reelection due to term limits, Trump has endorsed Republican candidate Donalds, who won the primary and will face former Republican Rep. David Jolly, who is running as a Democrat, in the general election.

In the Florida House of Representatives, the president endorsed Jon Maples, who is running for an open seat. Maples lost the March 24 special election for the district that includes Mar-a-Lago to Democrat Emily Gregory, a small-business owner in health and fitness. Maples, however, is getting another shot at Gregory after winning the GOP primary on Aug. 18 and will face her in the general election.
