Federal prosecutors have accused a reportedly HIV positive 38-year-old D.C. man of plotting to have unprotected sex with a 12-year-old boy.
Undercover District detectives first started speaking to Mark S. Longo in Internet chat rooms in early June after a confidential source told investigators Longo possessed hundreds of videos of men having sex with children ranging in age from infancy to 12 years old, court records filed in the District’s federal court said.

Longo’s attorney Edward Sussman did not immediately return calls for comment.
On Thursday, an undercover officer told Longo via an Internet chat room that the undercover officer had an opportunity to have sex with a 12-year-old boy at a District hotel, District Detective Timothy Palchak wrote in a sworn statement.
During the conversation, Longo requested a picture of the boy and then reportedly said, “I want to show up!,” later adding, “I’d do anything you wanted in exchange,” Palchak wrote.
The two discussed what limits the 12-year-old might have, with Longo saying; “Who cares if he does or not [have limits],” the statement said. Longo referred to himself as “pervy” and said he wanted to have anal sex with the boy, police said.
That conversation ended, but later that same day, the undercover detective contacted Longo again, this time agreeing to meet Longo at the hotel with the 12-year-old, Palchak wrote.
It was during that conversation the police say Longo disclosed that he was HIV positive. Longo then asked, “Should we be forthright about me being poz [positive] or just not deal with it” the statement said. He then answered his own question: “the perv in me says to not say anything.” Police said that in previous conversations, Longo claimed to have consistently engaged in unprotected sex.
Between 4 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Longo and the undercover officer repeatedly exchanged text messages, with Longo requesting confirmation that the 12-year-old was at the hotel, court documents said. When Longo arrived at the hotel at 8:15 p.m. he was arrested.
When he was searched, police found on Longo a drug designed to facilitate anal sex and no condoms, Palchak wrote.
Police say Longo then confessed to his plan and again confirmed that he was HIV positive.
