D.C. Council candidate Kevin B. Chavous has been arrested in what his staff is calling a prostitution sting.

Chavous, the son of former Ward 7 Councilman Kevin P. Chavous, was arrested early Friday morning and charged with “soliciting prostitution,” D.C. police public information officer Tisha Gant told The Washington Examiner. Chavous was arrested on K Street Northeast near the intersection of North Capital Street at shortly after midnight.

Chavous, who according to his campaign website is a 2010 graduate of Howard University Law School, denied the charges and said he is working with an attorney.

Chavous is running against Democratic incumbent Yvette Alexander for her Ward 7 council seat.
