Slain correctional officers will be honored at the National Law Enforcement Memorial at Judiciary Square in downtown Washington on Saturday.

The event helps kick off National Correctional Offices Week, which runs Sunday through May 12.

Area corrections chiefs and politicians will participate in the 21st Annual Wreath Laying Ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by an honor guard competition from jurisdictions in the District, Maryland and Virginia. The public is invited.

Dignitaries include D.C. Councilmember Phil Mendelson; Frank Milano, Alexandria Sheriff’s Office; and Craig W. Floyd, chairman and CEO, National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
