Former Md. guard gets prison in inmate’s beating

BALTIMORE (AP) — A federal judge has sentenced a former Maryland correctional officer to 2 1/2 years in prison for his role in the beating of a state prison inmate at the medium-security Roxbury Correctional Institution near Hagerstown in 2008.

Michael Morgan was sentenced Wednesday in Baltimore. He is among 14 former officers convicted of federal offenses stemming from the assault and subsequent cover-up.
