April Jacobowitz’s family knew something was wrong when she didn’t contact one of her children on a birthday.

The Germantown woman was estranged from her family, according to data from the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs, but kept in touch with her two young children, who were living with her parents. NamUs data did not specify why Jacobowitz was estranged from her family or why her children were living with her parents.
