Boy, 10, critically injured in Rockville house fire

 

A 10-year-old boy was critically injured in a Rockville house fire Monday morning, authorities said.

The blaze broke out at a home on the 200 block of Elizabeth Avenue shortly before 7:30 a.m., according to Scott Graham, assistant chief for Montgomery County fire and rescue.

One occupant of the home told fire personnel arriving on the scene that there was a child inside. Emergency crews rescued the boy amid heavy fire and smoke, Graham said.

The child is being treated for injuries that officials called “critical and life-threatening.”

No one else was injured. The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.

Two admit to killing D.C. teen

Two men pleaded guilty Monday in the slaying of a District teenager in Southeast Washington.

Kevin Clark, 23, of D.C., and Donald Crosland, 17, of Suitland, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and weapons charges in the killing of 17-year-old Ricardo Minger. The duo face between five and 30 years in prison at the sentencing scheduled Dec.7.

According to prosecutors, Clark and Crosland entered an apartment in the 5300 block of E Street SE on the night of Jan. 7, and shot Minger multiple times, killing him.

Assailant charged in gas station stabbing

A man is charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a Maryland gas station clerk.

Joseph Schrump, 22, was trying to rob the Mobile gas station early Sunday on the 7200 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie and the clerk resisted, according to Anne Arundel County police.

Police allege that Schrump then stabbed the clerk several times with a knife. He is charged with attempted second-degree murder, robbery and assault. The clerk was treated at a hospital released.
