The FBI and local police are searching for the serial bank robber who they say struck Arlington banks four times in the past two months, including hitting a BB&T on Lee Highway twice. The man entered the BB&T at 5515 Lee Highway at about 2 p.m. on Thursday. He said he was robbing the bank before getting away with the cash. The day before, the same man hit a Wachovia near the Clarendon Metro and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. During both robberies, he fled on foot.
The man is linked to two other hold-ups earlier this summer. Police believe he is behind the robbery of two Arlington BB&T banks: the branch at 3001 Washington Blvd. on June 6, and on June 16 the Lee Highway branch that he hit again last week.
