HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Hagerstown police say a New York man accused of robbing two men in a garage at gunpoint broke away from officers and ran several blocks with his hands cuffed behind his back.

A Washington County District judge ordered 26-year-old Kristopher Lawrence of Brooklyn, N.Y., held without bond Tuesday. Lawrence is charged with robbery, assault, escape and other offenses.

According to court documents, Lawrence approached the two victims on Monday with a black semi-automatic handgun. He hit one victim in the head and took $1,500 in cash and a cell phone from him.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown (http://bit.ly/Nz55ZG) reports that police were able to trace the phone to a home and found Lawrence. Officers say when the police cruiser carrying Lawrence arrived at the station, Lawrence ran, but was quickly recaptured.
