Police and FBI agents raided five Northeast Baltimore houses Thursday morning, seizing 14 guns and more than $100,000 in drugs.

Maj. Terry McLarney, head of the city’s homicide unit, said the joint operation targeted dealers in the Armistead Gardens community.

Around 5:20 a.m., police seized the weapons, 2 kilograms of cocaine, 100 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 2 ounces of marijuana — along with packaging materials and scales, police said.

“There are several locations, some located in Fells Point, where some of the weapons and narcotics business was transacted,” he said.

Officers arrested George Lee, 40, Douglas Everhart, 28, and Earl Shiflett, 17, on felony drug and weapons charges, McLarney said. Shiflett was under house arrest at the time of the raid, wearing an ankle monitoring device.

“Where you have drugs of this weight, there are going to be weapons, and the weapons lead to violence,” McLarney said. “There are very few drug organizations in this city without some violence.”

When faced with stalled homicide cases, police will “go after the people from a drug angle or a weapons angle,” he said.
