State police said they believe a man who apparently committed suicide Thursday in his vehicle on the shoulder of Interstate 95 in Howard was being sought in the shooting of a Laurel woman the previous day.
Aqil Mubarak Abdul-Haqq, 32, of Hyattsville, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the driver’s seat of a 1998 Ford Explorer shortly before 2:30 a.m. on I-95 north of Route 32, police said Friday.

Officers had been alerted by Laurel police Wednesday night to look for a gray sport utility vehicle with Virginia plates that was wanted in connection with the shooting of a woman, police said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was being treated at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said. Her condition was unknown.
