Man charged after son ingests methadone

SEVERN, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County police have arrested a Severn man after his son ingested methadone.

Twenty-eight-year-old Paul Brooks has been charged with numerous offenses, including possession with intent to distribute cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine.

Police were called to Brooks’ home about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday when his 5-year-old son was not breathing. The boy was taken to a local hospital, were police say he was conscious and alert after treatment.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the home, and said they found cocaine, heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as two firearms.
