Female bandit strikes again

The female bank robber featured on Tuesday’s Crime & Punishment page in The Examiner has struck for a third time in less than two weeks, Fairfax County police said. This time the woman entered a BB&T bank in Centreville on Tuesday wearing a black and white scarf around her face. She passed a note implying that she had a weapon, demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. She was described as being about 5 feet 4 inches tall and heavyset.

10-month-old girl dies

D.C. police are investigating the death of an infant in Northwest Washington. Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, a caretaker carrying the 10-month-old girl flagged down an officer on the 4500 block of 17th Street NW and said the baby girl wasn’t breathing. The officer called for medical assistance and began CPR. The girl was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead around 9:30 p.m. The woman told police the baby was found unconscious in the family residence in the Crestwood neighborhood.

Sex offender charged with child porn

A 59-year-old registered sex offender was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography. Charles D. Dillon turned himself in after Fairfax County police said they discovered evidence in the case after investigating Dillon for failing to update his information on the sex offender registry. Dillon had set up a Web site advertising piano lessons for ages 4 and up but failed to register it, police said.

Man faces prison for false tax return

A Laurel man faces three years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to filing a false tax return. Jung Jun Park, 42, underreported his income from 2005 to 2007, resulting in a tax loss of more than $37,000, authorities said.
