Pregnant woman stabbed A pregnant woman remained in critical condition Sunday after she was found stabbed in a parking lot in Temple Hills.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday, Prince George’s County police responded to a call from a witness who said a man with a knife was chasing the pregnant woman in a parking lot on the 3500 block of Silver Park Drive.

The assailant was gone by the time police arrived. The woman, who was in her third trimester of her pregnancy, was taken to a hospital, where she was in critical condition. Police have not determined whether the woman and assailant knew each other.

Fire destroys NW row house

A two-alarm fire destroyed an abandoned row house in Northwest D.C. early Sunday morning.

About 90 firefighters responded to the fire at 1361 Oak St. NW around 1:30 a.m. A walk collapsed during the blaze, causing damage to neighboring homes, which had been evacuated by fire crews.

No residents were injured, but a firefighter suffered serious injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sheriff’s deputy killed

while working on car

A Prince William County sheriff’s deputy died after a car he was working on fell on him.

Forty-three-year-old Kevin L. Rock Sr. was off duty when the accident happened in the Fredericksburg area.

A viewing is planned for Rock on Monday and a funeral on Tuesday in Manassas.

Rock was married with three children.

Birthday bash leaves

Police say one man was shot in the face and another was severely beaten when a fight erupted during a birthday party at a downtown Baltimore hotel.

Officers were called to the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel around 3:15 a.m. Saturday, where they found an Uzi submachine gun. The man who was shot was in serious condition. The man who was beaten was in critical condition. Both men are 18 years old.
