D.C. shadow senator Paul Strauss has pleaded guilty to drunken driving for an arrest that occurred last year in Adams Morgan. Strauss received probation and $400 fine.

According to police, Strauss was stopped in October for speeding over the Duke Ellington Bridge. Strauss had a blood-alcohol level of 0.16 percent, twice the .08 limit in D.C.

Shadow senators are elected by the District of Columbia to lobby U.S. lawmakers for full representation in Congress.

Strauss pleaded guilty Friday. The change in plea was first reported Monday by the Washington City Paper.
