Davonn Denise Dupree had been missing from Lorton for three weeks in the fall of 2008, when police found the 14-year-old’s body stashed in a Silver Spring stairwell. She was murdered by a 33-year-old ex-convict who had seduced her.
She had been choked and then stabbed to death. A man had called police on Nov. 18, alerting authorities to the body. It turned out, the caller was her killer. On Thursday, Tracy Bailey will be sentenced for Davonn’s murder in Montgomery County Circuit Court. The 33-year-old faces up to life in prison.

Bailey met Davonn in October 2008. He had recently been released from the New York state prison on Rikers Island where he had spent the last 13 years for an attempted murder.
Bailey admitted that he seduced Davonn. She ran away from home and their relationship became sexual as the two began squatting in an apartment on Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring.
Sometime in early November, Davonn caught Bailey sleeping with another girl, authorities said. An argument ensued. It ended with Bailey handcuffing, choking and stabbing Davonn in the corner of the apartment’s master bedroom.
He kept her body in his apartment, prosecutors said, and moved his bed to the corner to cover up the pool of blood. A few days after the murder, Bailey dragged the body to the stairwell. He later called police, who found it.
Police developed Bailey as a suspect, but couldn’t track him down. His transient lifestyle made him difficult to trace. Then, on March 12, 2009, he turned himself in to Montgomery County police.
He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on March 5, 2010.
