Police arrested a Northeast D.C. man Friday afternoon for the fatal stabbing of a transgender woman earlier this month.
Police arrested Gary Niles Montgomery, 55, of Northeast D.C., and charged him with the murder of JaParker Jones, 23.

Jones, of Northeast D.C., was found stabbed and unconscious around 8:13 p.m. on the 4900 block of East Capitol Street NE Feb. 2. Also known as “Deoni” and “Logan,” Jones was taken to a nearby hospital where she died early the next morning.
Police released a video of Montgomery crossing the street and asked the public for help in locating him.
