A man was assaulted with a hammer and robbed in Columbia Heights early Wednesday morning, police said.
The incident happened about 12:40 a.m. at 14th and Irving Streets NW. The victim was walking when he was approached by four suspects. One of them struck him in the head.

Police spokesman Officer Araz Alali said that the man’s wallet and Boost Mobile cell phone were taken.
The victim was taken to a hospital. His condition is unknown. The suspects are described as four black males, one of whom was wearing a black T-shirt.
