Montgomery County police arrested three men on armed robbery charges after one of the suspects called police claiming to have been kidnapped.

Two hours after robbing a man in Silver Spring, police said, one of the suspects called from a gas station to say that he had been taken against his will. The caller, 18-year-old Paul Santiago, directed the officers to the two other men, who police determined were the suspects in the armed robbery. They also determined that Santiago was also involved in the robbery. They said Santiago falsely reported the kidnapping to avoid arrest because the victim in the original armed robbery turned out to be an acquaintance of Santiago.

Police charged Andre French and Kermit Burton, both 21, and Santiago with armed robbery and other crimes. Santiago was also charged with making a false report.
