Three District residents have been arrested and charged with separate cases of animal cruelty. Michelle Terrell, 26, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly leaving her dog in a bathroom for at least four days while she stayed with a friend. Police said the dog was found a large amount of feces and urine — and without food or clean water.

Terrell was arrested in September 2011 for leaving another dog tied outside alone for three days. The dog died in 90-plus degree weather, police said.

Ronald and Evelyn Hamlin, ages 35 and 37, were arrested Monday.

Authorities said the Hamlins’ dog, Rocky, had been kept in a crate made for a dog half its size for up to 20 hours a day. Rocky had severe congenital skeletal deformations, police said. His coat was covered in feces.
