BALTIMORE (AP) — Police say an officer fatally shot a 22-year-old man in northwest Baltimore after a chase.
A police spokesman says the shooting happened Saturday before 6 a.m.

Police were called to a 7-Eleven on the corner of Reisterstown Road and West Belvedere Avenue. Arriving officers identified a man who had been described in the call to police, and the man fled on foot. An officer chasing him fired and struck the man once. He was transported to a hospital where he died.
The suspect was found to have been armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Police are withholding his identity until they notify his family.
The officer involved in the shooting was a six-year veteran and was not injured. He is now on administrative leave, standard after police-involved shootings.
