Police searching for McLean bank robber

Fairfax County police are searching for a man who they say robbed a Capital One Bank branch in McLean early Monday morning.

The robbery took place at about 9:30 a.m. at the bank located at 6890 Elm Street in McLean.

Police said an armed man entered the bank and demanded money from an employee. The clerk gave the man an unspecified amount of money, and the man fled the scene, police said. He was last seen near an office building across the street from the branch on Dolley Madison Boulevard, police said.

It’s unclear what kind of weapon the man was carrying.

Police described the suspect as a black man about 6 feet tall with a medium build. When he robbed the bank, he was wearing a ski mask and gloves, a fisherman’s hat, a long khaki trench coat and dress pants, police said.
