U.S. Marshals are looking for a man who they say has been committing crimes and swindling people all over the national capital region.

Eric Lowery, 49, is wanted by three area jurisdictions, including Montgomery County. He faces 17 counts of check fraud there, accused with others of stealing tens of thousands of dollars.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in providing information to help bring Lowery to justice.

“Lowery is certainly a regional nuisance and won’t stop defrauding people until he is locked up,” said Matt Burke, supervisory inspector for the U.S. Marshals.

In addition to the 17 counts of larceny and fraud in Montgomery County, Lowery is wanted on theft charges in D.C. and for failing to appear on a DWI charge in Charles County.

Lowery is described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches and 160 pounds. Lowery has lived in the District, Hyattsville, Mitchellville and Waldorf.

Anyone with information on Lowery’s whereabouts can call the U.S. Marshals Service at 800-336-0102.

The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, run by the U.S. Marshals Service, is composed of 30 federal, state and local agencies from Baltimore to Norfolk. The unit has captured more than 29,000 wanted fugitives since its creation in 2004.
