Thieves stole a giant eyeball decoration from the Science Museum of Virginia.
A fabric eyeball cover that was wrapped around a 29-ton Grand Kugel ball in front of the museum in Richmond was stolen over the weekend. The sculpture spans 8 1/2 feet in diameter.
The eyeball cover had just been put up to promote the museum’s Halloween-oriented exhibit Goose Bumps, the Science of Fear. The decorative fabric was stolen just 12 hours after it was wrapped around the ball.
Museum officials say that the decoration is valued at about $4,000.
The Virginia Capitol Police are investigating the incident.
