Off-duty P.G. officer charged with assault

An off-duty Prince George’s County police officer has been accused of assaulting a man at gunpoint outside a bar in Odenton.

Nathaniel Daniels III was arrested after he allegedly threatened a tow truck driver. Anne Arundel County police allege that Daniels shoved a handgun in the tow truck driver’s face Saturday during a fight about a vehicle that had been towed earlier that evening.

Daniels, 34, has been charged with first- and second-degree assault. He has been released on $100,000 bond.

Daniels has been suspended, and Prince George’s County police are cooperating with the investigation, said Officer Henry Tippett, a police spokesman. He said Daniels has been a member of the force for eight years.
