More than 16 years have passed since Curtis King left his Alexandria apartment to buy dinner, only to be shot and killed in the parking lot when he returned. King, 27, of Alexandria, was an Army sergeant stationed at Fort Myer. He and his wife had returned from a family reunion in Crewe, Va., earlier that day.

Detective Tom Durkin of the Alexandria Police Department said King ventured from his apartment on the 6100 block of Edsall Road on Aug. 21, 1994, to buy dinner and was shot upon returning at 9:40 p.m. He said there have been no suspects, but two men were seen approaching King in the parking lot and a small black car was later spotted “fleeing the scene.”
