Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) said there was no active threat at the U.S. Naval Academy after the academy locked down following a confused altercation between a student and a police officer.

A threat posted on a chat platform alarmed students at the academy. The threat was traced back to a student’s laptop located far away from the academy, and no active threat ever hit the campus. But a student mistook a police officer for the shooter and hit him with the butt of his rifle. The officer then fired at the student, wounding him in the arm. Both are stable and are receiving treatment.
