WATCH LIVE: Authorities give update after Charlie Kirk shooting suspect captured

Authorities are giving an update on the search for Charlie Kirk’s assassin after detaining a suspect.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

President Donald Trump was the first to announce the arrest in an appearance on Fox News on Friday morning.

SUSPECT IN CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION IS IN CUSTODY: TRUMP

“I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody. Everyone did a great job,” Trump said.

The arrest came after two false alarms — one suspect arrested moments after the assassination and another arrested hours later. Police soon released them after interrogation, and both are no longer considered suspects.

The suspect was able to evade capture for well over 24 hours after sniping Kirk from a rooftop at Utah Valley University. After killing Kirk, he jumped off the roof and fled into a nearby neighborhood.
