Protesters rappel from Potomac bridge

Four protesters were arrested after two of them rappelled from the Arlington Memorial Bridge to hang a banner, police said.

About 10:30 a.m. Monday, the protesters unfurled a banner that read, “Tibet Will Be Free.”

Two protesters on top of the bridge were arrested immediately, police said. The two that swung from ropes were arrested by D.C. police harbor boats that waited below in the Potomac River.

The protest was timed with a visit from the Chinese vice president, who is meeting with President Obama at the White House on Tuesday.

Police said the two sides regrouped at the Potomac Mills Mall but were dispersed by police.
