Hate crime charges filed after man disrupts Manhattan synagogue service

A 46-year-old Bronx man was promptly arrested and charged with hate crimes after he disrupted a Shabbat service at a Manhattan synagogue and hit two people.

Larry Montes faces two counts of assault as a hate crime and one count of criminal mischief as a hate crime, among other charges, New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch said late Friday. The incident unfolded at Central Synagogue in New York City that night.
