Ex-deacon gets 8 years in prison A former church deacon was sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a prostitute at gunpoint, federal prosecutors in D.C. said Monday.
Colin L. Hatch, 27, of Capitol Heights, was likely weeks away from becoming a Baltimore police officer at the time of his attack, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said in November 2007, Hatch picked up a prostitute near 10th and K streets NW, and drove to a parking lot and put a .45-caliber gun to her head and forced her to have sex.
In March, Hatch pleaded guilty to one count of attempted first-degree sexual abuse and one count of possession a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence.
Housing director sentenced
A former Prince George’s County housing director was sentenced to more than three years in prison for his role in an extortion scheme with disgraced former County Executive Jack Johnson.
James Johnson, 67, who is not related to Jack Johnson, was also ordered to pay a $25,000 fine and to forfeit $46,300 that was seized from his safe deposit box.
Prosecutors said James Johnson received $400,000 and $1 million in bribes from developers. In exchange, he secured millions in state and federal grants, and acquired property from the county for favored developers.
Silver Spring man sentenced for child porn
A Silver Spring man was sentenced Monday to five years in prison for downloading thousands of images and videos of child pornography.
Carlton Williams, 40, bought a membership to a website that offered images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland.
Williams admitted that he had been downloading child pornography on his computer since 2001.
Investigators found more than 6,000 images and 100 videos of child pornography on his computer and on DVDs.
