A Baltimore man who vowed to wage a one-man jihad against the United States has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for plotting to blow up a military recruiting station.

Antonio Martinez, 22, who called himself Mahammad Hussain, was caught in a federal sting in December 2010. He pleaded guilty in January to attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction against federal property.

Although the bomb he used — provided by the feds — was fake, authorities said the danger Martinez posed was very real. Martinez went so far as to park a vehicle that he though was full of explosives in front of the Armed Services Career Center in Catonsville before pushing the bomb detonator to destroy the building.

Martinez, a 2005 graduate of Laurel High School, gave a lengthy statement to the judge  Friday renouncing terrorism, according to The Associated Press.
