Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials have released a description of a suspect in an arson fire at a Silver Spring barbershop.
About 2:35 a.m. Thursday, fire and rescue units went to the salon at 936 Bonifant St. and found fire coming from the front of the business. Damage is estimated at about $100,000.
Fire investigators found that the fire was intentionally set using an accelerant. Earlier in the morning, a person was seen smashing a hole in the barbershop’s front door, officials said.
The suspect is described as a black male, about 6 feet and 200 to 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black shorts and black shoes.
Officials said that Thursday’s incident is the third time the business has been the target of vandalism and/or arson recently.
