A 24-year-old Laurel man will spend 15 years behind bars for raping a University of Maryland student.

Prosecutors said Derik Villeda-Morales drove up and offered to give a 21-year-old senior a ride home in February 2009 after she left the Cornerstone Grill in College Park. She climbed into his black pickup, then he punched her repeatedly, drove her to Anne Arundel County and raped her. He then drove back to Prince George’s County, where he forced her out of the moving vehicle, according to prosecutors. Villeda-Morales, who was here from Guatemala, is expected to be deported once his prison sentence is completed, prosecutors said.
