A Fairfax County woman has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for tossing her 2-year-old granddaughter off a mall walkway. Carmela Dela Rosa threw Angelyn Ogdoc to her death from a sixth-floor pedestrian bridge at the Tysons Corner Center in November 2010.
Dela Rosa, who presented an insanity defense, was convicted of first-degree murder in a jury trial last year. The jury recommended a 35-year sentence, and Fairfax County Circuit Court Judge Bruce White imposed that penalty Friday.
