During the investigation, the suspect attempted to “run over” German, a 12-year veteran of the police department, according to Agent Donny Moses, a police spokesman.
German jumped away from the vehicle, but the car caught her by the knee, carrying her for a short distance, before knocking her to the ground, Moses said.
She has been treated and released from a local hospital, police said.
Detectives have developed a suspect in the case, according to Moses.
Once the suspect has been apprehended, he will be charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault, and various other counts, Moses said.
Attempted first-degree murder carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
