A Harford County man was fatally shot at his daughter’s birthday party Sunday night, and his estranged wife’s boyfriend is in custody, police said.
Christopher Lee Fritsche, a 34-year-old Havre de Grace resident, was attending a party at the Pylesville home of Kevin J. Sorrick, 36, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Monica Worrell. After the party started winding down and most of the guests had left, Fritsche apparently began arguing with Sorrick, Worrell said.
The argument became heated and shortly after 9 p.m., Sorrick allegedly shot Fritsche in the head with a rifle, Worrell said. Fritsche was declared dead by emergency medical personnel from the Norrisville Fire Company around 9:20 p.m.
Sorrick was arrested and charged with first degree murder, Worrell said. He was being held without bail as of Monday morning.
Fritsche’s death is the fifth homicide in Harford County for 2008.
