Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has signaled he supports the “immediate” arrest of the Texas Democrats who fled the state in order to halt a vote on a Republican redistricting plan.

Earlier on Sunday, more than 51 Texas Democratic lawmakers flew to Chicago to break quorum, all but derailing a vote set for Monday on a new congressional map that includes five redrawn districts designed to favor Republicans. The Democrats’ mass exodus was reportedly brokered by Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL), who has instructed his staff to provide any logistical assistance to the state lawmakers, at least some of whom will be staying for all of this week.
