An anonymous whistleblower disclosure alleging that the Postal Service rushed a new ballot-verification system drew attention from Democrats on Tuesday, hours before a key deadline in the Trump administration’s mail-in ballot executive order legal battle.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the complaint as the administration sought emergency relief from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 1st Circuit to lift U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani’s 14-day block on the rule. The 1st Circuit ordered the plaintiffs challenging the rule to respond by 5 p.m. Tuesday, ahead of Talwani’s Thursday hearing on whether to impose a longer preliminary injunction.
