Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is suing a man he accuses of molesting his son while facing attempted murder charges against the same man.

Velasquez is in police custody after a judge denied him bail in March over charges of attempted murder and several gun assault charges. Now, he’s suing Harry Goularte, mother Patricia Goularte, and stepfather Paul Bender for negligence and sexual battery, claiming that his 4-year-old son was molested while in a daycare run out of their home. The lawsuit is on behalf of his son, “C.V. Jr.”

Goularte was in his vehicle in February when Velasquez allegedly pursued him in a high-speed chase, which resulted in the two cars colliding and Goularte’s car getting shot at. Velasquez will next be due in court sometime in August and faces up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.

The Santa Clara County district attorney’s office has already charged Goularte with lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, to which he has subsequently pleaded not guilty. Goularte is next due in court in September. If found guilty, Goularte faces up to eight years in prison.
