Mary Landrieu, the Democratic senator from Louisiana, will introduce her own bill to allow Americans who like their health insurance plan to keep that plan. Landrieu, who said Wednesday she would be open to sponsoring legislation of that kind, released a statement about her intention:

“A promise was made that if you like your health plan, you can keep it – and I will do everything I can to see that the promise is kept. That is what the American people were told, and my legislation will make sure that is what happens. Many people may find better plans in the Marketplaces that offer superior coverage for them at a good value and at a potentially lower cost. But if people want to keep their current plans, they should be able to do so,” said Landrieu. “I am committed to ensuring the Affordable Care Act is implemented as intended so middle class families and businesses can finally get quality health insurance that they can afford and count on. I hope that leaders from around the country and from both parties will join me in this effort.”
