Louisiana Senate: Cassidy 44, Landrieu 40

Published January 30, 2014 5:08pm ET

Republican congressman Bill Cassidy leads incumbent Democratic senator Mary Landrieu in Louisiana, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.

In the poll of likely voters, 44 percent said they would support Cassidy, compared to 40 percent who would support Landrieu. Five percent said they would support someone else, while 11 percent say they are undecided. The poll did not ask about another Republican candidate in the race, retired Air Force colonel Rob Maness. The past few polls have shown Landrieu, a Democrat who voted for Obamacare, with as high as a 10-point lead over Cassidy, though there’s been little polling of the race. Rasmussen’s survey is the first public poll of the race in 2014.
