Mainstream Scream: Time-MSNBC’s Halperin on Obamacare

Our weekly look at the loudest screech from the mainstream media features Mark Halperin, editor-at-large and senior political analyst for Time magazine, who on MSNBC’s Hardball last week rued that conservative opposition to Obamacare is a political winner for Republicans. “I think we shouldn’t be the only industrialized democracy that doesn’t have universal health care,” he said, adding that the GOP doesn’t “pay much of a price for” opposing it.

Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker explains our pick: “Halperin exposed what motivates an envious Washington press corps’ avid pursuit of Obamacare. America’s lack of European-style government-directed health care embarrasses him and his colleagues and they will not rest until the U.S. is more like France.”
