Media ripped for ignoring Biden family influence peddling report

Constitutional scholar and TV pundit Jonathan Turley had his sucker punch ready Wednesday when several liberal media outlets, as if in a conspiracy, ignored covering the GOP’s sensational investigative report on Biden family influence peddling and cash collecting in China and Romania.

“The committee could produce eight heads in a duffle bag owned by Hunter [Biden] and the media would still demand a luggage tag referencing the president,” he tweeted.

ALMOST NO CONFIDENCE IN BIDEN AS ECONOMIC LEADER: GALLUP

Even though the new House Oversight report had evidence of payments to Hunter Biden and other family members while his father was vice president under former President Barack Obama, Turley pointed out that at least one reporter tried to turn the spectacular development to former President Donald Trump.

“It shows an array of transfers to nine Biden family members including Biden grandchildren. The response of one reporter, however, [was,] ‘What about the Trumps?’”

On social media, the lack of network coverage was highlighted, and conservative critics said it was an example of the support liberal media have shown for President Joe Biden since the 2020 presidential campaign.

Tom Zawistowski, president of the TEA Party-affiliated We the People Convention, even put out a statement noting the lack of coverage of the multiple House Oversight reports linking Biden and his family to shady deals when he was vice president.

“ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, and C-SPAN not only did not cover the event (live), but instead, several of them acted in a blatantly political manner to protect President Joe Biden and distract the attention of the American people from perhaps the biggest scandal and crime in American Presidential history,” he said.

[C-SPAN did cover the event live and aired it three times, said a spokesman Thursday.]

To be fair, there has been a lot of news in the past 24 hours, with the E. Jean Carroll sex assault case against Trump, the arrest of Rep. George Santos (R-NY), and the debt ceiling talks.

But Zawistowski said that was just a convenient excuse to pass on the 51-minute press conference by Chairman James Comer (R-KY). “The premeditated actions today by the broadcast media betrays that trust and exposes how corrupt they themselves have become,” he said.

The liberal media have been under fire this week for also ignoring the efforts by the president’s team to block a New York Post reporter from covering a Biden event out of concern the paper would ask about Hunter Biden.

And there has been little outrage over the White House plans to require reporters to follow new courtesy rules.

After fired Fox host Tucker Carlson said Tuesday night that he would start a Twitter channel, Rasmussen Reports noted that Twitter had become a go-to platform for political news as media bias has surged.

In its latest survey, Rasmussen said that 56% believe media bias is getting “worse,” and just 16% said it is getting “better.”
