New suspicions on who built Jan. 6 ‘gallows’

A new report is raising questions about who put a gallows on the National Mall for the Jan. 6, 2021, election protests, an image that has been used by Democrats to smear supporters of former President Donald Trump.

Lawyer Ed Martin, who has helped over 100 riot suspects fight their cases, has reviewed hours of video and believes that the structure from which a noose was hung was planted by anti-Trump operatives, not the election protesters.

“Reagan taught us to trust but verify. In the current environment, my operating system is: ‘Distrust, then verify.’ And so my starting point is they’re lying to us. And then I’ll figure out if they might be telling the truth,” he told Secrets.

The photo shows the crossbeam of the gallows being added before the Jan. 6 riots. It was sent to Ed Martin, who has suspicions about who built the structure.

Martin, well known in conservative circles as president of the Phyllis Schlafly Eagles and for his Pro America Report radio show, said the video shows a man rolling the gallows to the Mall early on Jan. 6. He then goes to get coffee. “Who is Mr. Coffee?” he asked in his report. Several hours later, the same man returns to finish assembling the device after lunch.

Liberal media have tied the gallows to right-wing groups but with no evidence. Outlets such as the New York Times have suggested that it prompted calls among a few in the crowd to “hang” former Vice President Mike Pence, who was in the Capitol to certify Joe Biden’s election over Trump.

Martin has asked several questions about the structure. For example, why didn’t the police stop its construction? Why was the crossbeam and noose put on hours after it was brought to the Mall? And why did those constructing it change their outfits during the process?

While most of the media have ignored opportunities to review videos collected by the former House Jan. 6 committee, Martin has been sifting through them and said they provide possible evidence that counters the panel’s report on the riot, including who may have planted pipe bombs at both party headquarters.

He has posted some of his collection on this website and is hopeful of building a full archive of the videos.

Martin has also posted a hotline of sorts for people to call in tips about who Mr. Coffee and others in the videos are. He has already collected hundreds, and some are telling.
