James A. Baker: MSNBC is Democrats’ ‘house organ’

Political Polarization

Former Secretary of State James A. Baker thinks he knows why Washington is so divided.

Hosting former President Barack Obama for an event at his Baker Institute for Public Policy at Rice University, the top aide to both former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush said the media no longer calls balls and strikes.

“I think that part of this problem is the responsibility of the media. Our media today are no longer objective reporters of the facts the way they were when I was there,” he said, adding, “they are players, they’re players. You tune in to Fox News, you’d think you were listening to the house organ of the Republican Party. Tune into MSNBC and you’d know you were listening to the house organ of the Democratic Party.”

The growing Washington public relations firm Rokk Solutions is expanding and added Lindsay Singleton as senior vice president. She’s done diplomatic work in Latin America and headed up several social responsibility programs. The firm is a bipartisan powerhouse headed by longtime Democratic communicator Rodell Mollineau and Ron Bonjean, a top congressional and Bush administration spokesman.
