Retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid wants a job at the network that is home to Brian Williams, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz and Chris Matthews.
Reid, the Nevada lawmaker who is planning to retire next year, told CNBC’s John Harwood, “I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m not going to lobby. I’m not going to practice law. I’ll keep busy. I may want one of your jobs here — to be an analyst on TV and say all these good things that you always say about me.”
Part of Harwood’s interview ran on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” And Reid was his usual acid self.
Asked about Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Reid said, “I don’t mean to be mean-spirited, but he is a lump of coal.”
Asked about the GOP presidential contenders, he said, “I think they’re all losers.”
Which may explain this Reid comment: “I think a lot of people, as I read, they kind of don’t like me as a person, and that’s unfortunate.”
Except for Bill Clinton, he added. Reid said that as he ends conversations with Clinton, the former president always says, “Harry, I love you.”
