Another reason to count popular Republican Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels out of the vice presidential sweepstakes: he’s expected to be named president of Purdue University Thursday. That will cap a resume already full of jobs in the public and private sectors.

His former deputy in the Bush-era budget office, Sean O’Keefe, himself a former chancellor at Louisiana State University and now the head of EADS North America, told Secrets, “Purdue will be very fortunate to have him. Mitch has driven efficiency and performance improvement from every public and private sector leadership post he’s held.”
