Bessent says goal of ‘D-Day’ sanctions on Iran is ‘economic asphyxiation’

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent unveiled new economic penalties and sanctions against Iran and the countries and foreign actors propping up the regime’s war machine.

Bessent told reporters at a Monday press conference that the sanctions will target Iran’s ability to exploit “digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping.”
